Here you can learn my story, and find out how I found my passion!
My name is James. I am an LDS (Mormon) kid Youtuber who makes 100% clean family friendly content! I am currently learning to become a kid motivational speaker and in the prcess of becoming an actor. If you didn't know, I like to make films. Whether its a series, a Short film, or a Vlog! So here's my story of how I figured out that film making is one of my passions.
Ever since I was little, I have always dreamed of being in movies. I imagined all of the awesome films I could be in. I especially wanted to be in a superhero movie. Something that I did all the time was watched YouTube videos. I really wanted to post videos but my parents didn't let me because I was way too young. I also wanted to be on some Disney channel shows. Even though I had wanted to do acting and make movies, I asked myself the following question: What do I want to be when I grow up? Even at my Kindergarten class, we were given a paper that said: What do you want to be when you grow up? I couldn't answer this question. I don't remember what I wrote on that paper. A few years later, I moved. In the early summer of 2016, I created a YouTube channel called Yummy Jam. I had the faith that I could be the best YouTuber ever! My mom told me that I should make some "Real life" videos but I couldn't because, I only had my computer. I just continued to post Minecraft videos. That Christmas, I got my very first phone. It was a Samsung Galaxy J36V. I was so exited!!! I was going to make tons of videos! Which I did! Although, I was still asking myself the same old question... What do I want to do with my life? A few days later, I named my channel Yummy Jam Studios. That next spring, My homeschool class and I created a movie called "The Key of Liberty Movie" That was the very first film I had ever made. In the early summer of 2017, I went to a theater camp at my local college and I did the Stage Combat class. Our class teacher was a professional fencer named Tanner. In the hallway I asked him, "How did you find out that this was your passion?" "When I was little, I really liked swords. My parents found a fencing class and it just went from there." Tanner said. Then When I got home from the camp, I asked my mom, "What is something that I love to do?" She didn't have an answer for me. I then proceeded to think about what I love to do. A few weeks later, it clicked. "Oh! I love to make movies." I was so excited. Everywhere I go, I am able to tell people that I want to make movies! After about half a year went by, I decided that me and my scout group should make a movie for the Film Making Merit Badge. It took a long time, but I wrote the script, created the characters, and filmed most of it, Then I finally got to editing. The movie was awesome. It was called The Good Cop. The other people in my scout troop thought it was the most hilarious and awesome movie ever. It was so much fun to create. Sadly, we weren't allowed to post the movie because we would've had to sign a waiver. Our leaders didn't want to take the time to do that. After a while, My YouTube channel was doing awesome! People were coming in like Bees in a Bees nest. I was doing so good, That I hit 100 subscribers. (I got 11 subscribers in one day) at the beginning of 2018, I made a cereal theme for my YouTube channel. I just thought it would be a fun new design. it was now called Yummy Jam StudiO's. because of all this success, I've met so many Famous YouTubers such as Shonduras, What's Inside, Logdotzip, PHO3N1X, ibxtoycat, Studio C, and many more! I had a few people who watched the Minecraft videos who wanted them to come back. Because of this, I had plans for a third season of this series called Minecraft Shenanigans SMP. When I started posting Minecraft again, My YouTube channel became Stale. Nobody was watching my videos, I only got about 8 views every video, It was dead. I am currently looking at my YouTube analytics while typing this, and it is very low. Because of my low view count, I told my parents: "Guys, My YouTube channel is dying. How can I get it going again?" They told me about how Minecraft videos are what's killing my channel. This got me thinking. Minecraft is a video game. It isn't real life. People want to see me. Not another computer screen. I Had to do something. I quit Shenanigans towards the end of summer. I knew that if I change my videos, I can get my views back. I decided to make a new style for my Thumbnails, and tried to make my videos more cinematic. I am still learning things about videos as I type. There is a YouTube Channel called Mumbo Vlogs. He does tutorials on how to make your videos more cinematic and cool. I watched one of his most recent ones on Lighting. I realized how important it is when filming to make sure that your videos have a more atmospheric look. I also got a book from my best friend Sarah from "The Key of Liberty Movie". The book is called "How to shoot video that doesn't suck" by Steve Stockman. That also helped me understand some principles to follow when filming movies. The last thing I needed to do, was change my name. Yummy Jam and Cereal, don't mix. It's just something that wouldn't make people think about me when they heard/saw it. It was a hard decision, but I Changed my name one more time to JaymzStudiO's so I could keep the cereal theme. Plus, Jaymz was a pretty cool way to spell my super ultra generic name. I had to say goodbye to Yummy Jam, But I am glad I did it. This decision allows me to do lots of different things such as, Music, Art, Videos, Movies, Motivational Speaking, etc. I know that if I practice more, I can get to great places. Who knows. Maybe I'll have 1,000,000 Subscribers one day. I believe that the moral of this story is, Take a look at what you love. You might just figure out what your passion is. and don't get pulled off track. |
